Wayne Comer--1970
With the Arizona landscape in the
background, Wayne Comer looks like a
guy in a baseball uniform out lost in the
middle of the desert.
Just a man with his bat and his thoughts.
Of course Comer and many of the Pilots
could have been lost as we can see that
they were ready for the a return trip to
Seattle in their 1970 cardboard that
never came as the team moved to
Milwaukee for the ’70 season.
Editor’s Note: Fresh off a bench role with
the 1968 World Champion Detroit
Tigers, Comer was picked up by Seattle
in the Expansion Draft. As the Pilots
starting center fielder, the righty swinger
hit .245 with 15 long balls in 1969. He
would open the 1970 season on the
Milwaukee bench hitting .059 in 13
games to open the year, before being
shuttled to the Washington Senators.
