Trevor Bell--2006
(From Seinfeld, Season 5, Episode 18,

“The Fire”)

George: How can you call yourself a
clown and not know who Bozo is?

Eric the Clown: Hey man, what are
you hassling me for? This is just a gig,
it’s not my life. I don’t know who Bozo
is--- what is he? A clown?

George:  Is he a clown, what? Are you
kidding me?

Eric the Clown: Well, what is he, a
clown?

George: Yes, he’s a clown!

Eric the Clown: Alright, so what’s the
big deal? There’s millions of clowns.

George: Alright, just forget it.

Eric the Clown: Me forget it... you
should forget it. You’re living in the
past, man. You’re hung up on some
clown from the 60’s man....

Growing up in the Chicago area as a
youth my summer days usually included
a bologna and mustard sandwich, some
chips and orange Kool Aid as I watched
Bozo’s Circus during lunch on WGN-TV.
It was a staple of my day and a part of
my life, as I once appeared on the show.

While the arrows didn’t find me for the
Grand Prize Game, though I did have the
opportunity to join in an egg-on-the-
spoon race towards the end of the show.
I said my name to Ringmaster Ned and
took my place at the end of my team’s
line. We didn’t win as the girl who was
second in line on my team dropped the
egg, thus the race was over by the time I
took a hold of the spoon. Gone was a
game of Monopoly, as the losers were
handed a game of “Tilty”

As I remember, Tilty was a game with a
clown on it holding plates and you would
put items onto the plates and try not to
tip the clown over as he was also on a
small dish-like plate.

It stunk.

So many years later, when I was the
editor of the magazine At The Yard and I
heard about Trevor Bell signing with the
Angels, I just had to have a writer do a
story. Why? Well, just check it out
below....
"Trevor Bell... He’s Not Clowning Around".

And yes, I was hung up on Bozo the
Clown.

Editor’s Note: Eric the Clown was played
by Jon Favreau, who is best known for
appearing in films, which include Rudy
and Swingers. He also directed the
movie Elf and Iron Man, as well as the
sequel, Iron Man 2.
