Tony Taylor---1962
From Day One of Little League
practice as infielders we were always
told to keep our butts down and bend
at the knees, not the waist. However,
it seems to us that Tony Taylor is
taking it to an extreme in his 1962
card.
The slick fielding Taylor was a
two-time All-Star, with both selections
coming in 1960, when multiple
All-Star Games were played. A
member of the Cubs at the beginning
of the season, Taylor was traded in
Mid-May as it was apparently too
much possible success for the
franchise to handle, thus Chicago
sent Taylor to the Phillies where he
handled the keystone sack for the
next ten seasons.
In all, Taylor played 19 seasons in
the bigs, finishing with a .261
average. He also finished with a
.976 fielding percentage, which is
phenomenal, since he did if from a
position that looks like he is taking a
crap.
