Tom Lasorda--1992
The portly 63-year-old pulled off the triumph by talking throughout the
entire 26.2 mile course, ultimately wearing down Carter and the field of 48
runners.

“The hardest part was coming up with new material for the entire length of
the race,” noted a grinning Lasorda, who has been known to repeat
himself. “Well that, and jogging past the food court at the Indian River Mall
along the route.”

“I can say that I did a good job of carbo-loading last night in preparation for
the race,” said Lasorda, who plans to revisit Campenello's Restaurant this
evening for another plate of pasta. “Who needs that Slim Fast any ways?”

With his victory, the skipper hinted at developing his own line of shoes and
running gear. Nike stands to land the contract, which would slant the design
to outfitting older, out-of-shape runners and senior citizens.

Entries for next year’s race can be picked up at Dodgertown and at all
Dunkin’ Donuts locations.
