Salty Parker--1974

The floating heads on the manager and
coaching cards were always creepy,
though it did allow Salty Parker to make it
to big league cardboard on several
occasions.

A.278 hitter in 23 minor league seasons,
Salty Parker was a middle infielder who
gathered a cup of coffee with the Tigers
in 1936. He would hit    .280 for the
Tigers in 11 games, who would ultimately
trade him to the White Sox for future All-
Star hurler Dizzy Trout.

Parker would coach in the big leagues
for close to 20 seasons, even taking the
helm for a handful of games, going 5-7
as a manager. His given name was
Francis.
