Pat Dobson--1973
In 1971 Pat Dobson was one of four
Orioles hurlers to win 20 games for the
American League Champions.
Then in 1972 the right-hander went on to
lose an AL worst 18 games, despite
watching his ERA drop from 2.90 to 2.65.
This helps explain why Dobson sported a
dumbfounded look on his 1973 card.
Editor's Note: Dobson would enjoy an
11-year career with the Tigers, Padres,
Orioles, Braves, Yankees and Indians;
posting a 122-129, 3.54 mark. He went
on to be a scout with the Giants and I
watched several games with Pat before
his passing in 2006. I wish I had known
this fact to ask him about his thoughts on
the 1973 season.
