Mike Ryan--1968
With a career batting average of .193
over 11 seasons, Milke Ryan can look
down at Ray Oyler's career average of
.175 and laugh. But Oyler is the only guy
he could do that to, as Ryan stands as
baseball's second-worst hitter of all-time.

However, Ryan could catch and throw.

The hind snatcher tossed out 44% of
would-be base stealers over his career
(the same career percentage as Johnny
Bench), which helps explain why he was
able to enjoy an 11-year run in the bigs,
which included a spot on the Red Sox
roster for the '67 World Series.

After all, it wasn't because Ryan had a
good hairdo.

Here Phillie manager Gene Mauch is
yelling out to Ryan to fix his hair before
the Topps photographer snaps the
shot..... Too late.
