Mike Kekich & Fritz Peterson
On This Date in Major League
History, March 5, 1973…
Yankee hurlers Mike Kekich and Fritz
Peterson shocked the baseball world
when they announced that they had
completed the most scandalous trade in
baseball history, when the pair of lefties
acknowledged that they had swapped
wives, kids and even the family dog.
Come on guys, isn't there one of those
rules from the Big Guy in the Sky about
"coveting they neighbors' wife" ???
Editor's Note: The swap had occurred
the previous fall, but news leaked out
that spring. For Peterson and Susanne
Kekich, the trade worked out as the
couple stayed together; while Kekich and
Marilyn Peterson saw their relationship
end within a year.
Peterson would go 32-49, 4.20 following
"the trade," while Kekich would post 7-9,
5.95 mark.
