The image of Joe Namath stretched
out on a chaise lounge chair and
talking with reporters poolside in
Miami prior to Super Bowl III is still
embossed in many of the memories
of men over the age of 45. Having
guaranteed a win over the Baltimore
Colts, the brash signal caller
delivered on the promise, as the Jets
upset the powerhouse Colts 16-7.
It was 1969--- most living and
breathing men in America wanted to
be Joe Namath… and most women
wanted to be with him.
