Jack Brohamer---1977
With his surreal softball uniform, tipsy
yoga-like pose and staggered look,
Jack Brohamer appears to be, well,
as hammered as a beer-league
basher. Yep, the Chisox wore those
unis, but those threads were far from
the worst owner Bill Veeck’s crew
donned during the decade of disco.
Chicago wore shorts on one
occasion, and also sported red
outfits in the early 1970’s that in
retrospect were not that bad, at least
compared to what followed.

Truth was, Brohamer was a bit
bowlegged, but he was also a
scrappy second baseman who
earned a spot on the Sporting News’
All-Rookie team in 1972. He later hit
for the cycle, on September 24,
1977, though his claim to fame may
have come in starting two triple plays
during the course of his career.
