Diego Segui--1966
To us it looks like Diego Segui is
puckering up in a sense telling
everyone who looks at his card to
just kiss his a**.
Maybe it's because he just lost 43
games over the last four seasons,
highlighted by his American League
leading 17 defeats in 1964.
Possibly he was psychic and knew
that he would soon be tossing for
both the woeful Washington Senators
and pathetic upstart Seattle Pilots; as
he spent the first eight years of his
career abusing his arm for cellar
dwellers.
Or maybe it's because
penny-pinching A's owner Charles O.
Finley bought hats that were too
small.
Whatever the case, Segui was just
not a happy camper in his 1966 card.
Editor's Note: Better days would lie
ahead for the right-hander, who
would capture the AL ERA Title in
1970 with a 2.56 mark. He would also
get to hurl in two World Series', albeit
in a losing cause.
