Dick Sharon--1974
With so many potential poses for a
baseball card, what was Dick Sharon
thinking when he decided to point his bat
and look down the barrel for his pose?

One can only imagine.

The "Scouting Report" by
Baseball
Digest
(March 1972) from 1972 reviewed
Sharon as such:

"Doesn't make enough contact, but
has fair power. Could stick in the
majors if he learns to hit the breaking
pitches."

Sharon would hit .218 with 13 long balls
in 242 big league games for the Tigers
and Padres from 1973-75. The
right-handed swinging fly catcher was
traded five times during his ten year
professional career, as teams looked to
tap into the tools that made Sharon a
first round pick of the Pirates (9th
overall) in 1968.

We guess he never did learn to hit the
breaking ball. But then again, many don't.

Here's looking at you Dick.
