Dave  Baldwin--1969
One has to wonder how many years the artist at Topps waited before he could pull his
dinosaur character out of his pen.

It took an interesting player, such as Dave Baldwin, to bring the prehistoric artwork to our
cardboard rectangles.

Baldwin would spend the majority of his 6-year career hurling side-arm curveballs for the
soon to be extinct Washington Senators of the late 1960s. A reliever in 176 big league
outings, Baldwin logged 22 saves to go with an impressive 3.60 career ERA.

Following his baseball career, the right-hander would use his Ph.D. (genetics) and M.S.
degree (systems engineering) from the University of Arizona to become a published
author, artist and noted researcher.

Here is a link to his web site that expounds on Baldwin’s life in-and-out of baseball:

It is a life that allowed a Topps artist to finally draw a dinosaur on the back of a baseball
card.
