Dan Schneider--1968
A $100,000 bonus baby with Milwaukee,
Dan Schneider won a total of two games
in the bigs, both for the Braves. Traded
to the Astros prior to the 1967 season in
a deal where the other big name
exchanged was right-hander Tom Dukes;
we assume his new teammates asked
Schneider to recite the vowels in the
alphabet and the Topps cameraman
caught him in the middle of “ohhhh”.

That is the only reason we can think of
why Schneider would be captured on
cardboard with a face like that.

Editor’s Note: During his rookie season,
Schneider tossed six innings of shutout
ball against the 111-loss New York Mets
in 1963. The next season, the southpaw
dropped a    sub-.500 Dodger club in a
spot start in the second game of a
double-header. That’s $50,000 (pre-
taxes) per win for those who were
counting. “Ohhhh”
