Dallas Green--1960
I was just numb.
Watching Fox News on Sunday morning, January 9, 2011 and listening to the mother of
Christina Taylor Green talk about her little angel who was innocently felled by an
assassin's bullet---it left me numb. Christina was the daughter of Dodger scout John
Green and the granddaughter of Dallas Green.
With children of my own, I can not imagine the heartache the Green Family is
experiencing at this moment.
So, instead of talking about a piece of cardboard and how Dallas Green went 20-22,
4.26 in eight big league seasons, before he took over the managerial reigns of the
1980 Phillies to guide them to the World Championship--- I just want to offer up the
reminder to hug (or call) your child today.
My thoughts and condolences go out to the families of those who lost loved ones over
the weekend in the "Terror in Tucson."
Editor's Note: I want to use this space to make you aware of the Professional Scouts
Foundation. The Foundation was established a few years ago to help those in the
scouting community who have endured hardship. I trust the Foundation will be assisting
the Green Family. Here is a link to their web site:
