Chuck Manuel--1970
Prior to being a top-flight manager for
the Philadelphia Phillies in recent years
Charlie Manuel was a light-hitting
outfielder who went by the name Chuck
Manuel.
A career .198-hitter in 242 games for the
Twins and Dodgers in the 1970s, Manuel
never quite lived up to his potential at
the plate that was thought to exist after
he claimed the Midwest League batting
title with a .313 mark in 1967.
However, the back of his card highlights
in his cartoon, that, "Chuck is an expert
at laying down a bunt." Surprisingly, he
would not register a sacrifice bunt during
his abbreviated 6-year big league career.
While that appears to be interesting, it
falls short of learning the Chuck or
Charlie has a middle name of "Fuqua",
which places him second on our list of
Fuqua's behind John Fuqua, the former
running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers
from 1970-76.
