Buddy Bradford--1971
Awhile back we wrote about Elliott
Maddox's eyes in his 1973 card and the
psychological meaning behind their
movement as related to in the movie
The
Negotiator
.

Maddox Card

Which brings us to Buddy Bradford. A
smallish outfielder who enjoyed a big
league career with the White Sox,
Indians, Cardinals and Reds during the
1960s and early '70s; Bradford
seemingly has his eyes heading off in
two directions.

The right eye is firmly focused on striking
an imaginary ball, while the left eye is
wandering off into the stands kind of like
the lone wheel on a shopping cart that
just wants to spin around out of control.

Then again, this could help explain why
Bradford hit just .226 during his career.

Editor's Note: Bradford would eventually
find success in the business world as
highlighted in this
LA Times piece from
1994:
Bradford in the news
as he kept his eyes on his investments.
As for Bradford's eyes, it's odd and
extremely difficult to do. Try it, focus one
eye forward and the other eye to the
side. It's tough--- that is unless you are
Charles "Buddy" Bradford.
