Editors Note: Despite hurling on White Sox clubs that recorded five consecutive winning seasons in the mid-1960s, Bruce Howard gathered more losses than wins, albeit posting strong ERAs and hits to innings pitched ratios. Packaged along with Don Buford and rookie pitcher Roger Nelson to the Orioles, Howard did help bring aging shortstop and future Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio (along with John Matias and Russ Snyder) back to the Pale Hose for the 1968 season. Howard closed out his pro career in Triple-A the following year, leaving him with a 26-31, 3.18 mark in 120 big league outings. He would go on to father Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinal utility player David Howard (1991-1999). (12/09/09) |
