Bob Priddy--1969
Behind every expressionless player on a
rectangle of cardboard is a person of
passion and dedication. So what excited
Bob Priddy???
Well according to the back of his 1969
card,coin collecting was Priddy's hobby.
Yes, while the pride of McKees Rocks,
PA was racking up a 24-38, 4.00 mark in
10 big league seasons he also collected
coins.
We found this article in the Baseball
Digest Archives that tells of hobbies of
many players from the 1970s.
"Even Players Have Their Favorite
Hobbies" BB Digest, Oct. 1976
And from the look on this card, Priddy
also could have also been collecting hats
without logos...
Editor's Note: So, what ever happened to
Detroit minor leaguer Dan Gonzalez
(Gonzales) who mentioned at the end of
the article? The former 2nd round pick
eventually made it the majors playing in
seven games for the Tigers over the
1978-79 seasons. The outfielder would
hit .200 in 25 at-bats.
And if you are into collecting Bob Priddy
autographed items, you can buy an
signed photo for around $20.
