Bob Bruce--1963
Bob Bruce was an original Colt .45s
and their first big winner, posting a
15-9 record in Houston’s third
season. The right-hander also tied
a major league record when he
fanned the side in order on nine
pitches; retiring Cardinals Bill
White, Charlie Smith and Ken Boyer
in the 8th inning of the April 19,
1964 Colt .45s loss to St. Louis. He
won the last game in the old Colt
Stadium for Houston and lost the
first game in the new Astrodome.
And he did all this with a name that
consisted of two first names.
