Bill Travers--1975
Year-in and year-out, Billy Travers had a
worried, almost pained look on his face
when presented with the task of facing of
Oakland A’s as one can tell from the
helpless gaze he has on both his 1975
and 1976 cards. It’s as if he is looking for
help from a “greater being.”
1976
In both cards, the A’s can be seen milling
around in the background as they
prepared for their dose of Travers. We
find this to be a remarkable coincidence.
Though you can’t tell it from the
expression on his face, Travers actually
fared okay against the boys in green and
yellow. In 16 career outings, the lanky
left-hander went 5-6, with a very
respectable 3.64 ERA. Not bad,
considering his final numbers in nine
seasons primarily with the Milwaukee
Brewers was 65-71, 4.10.
So, why the big worry Billy?
Editor's Note: Travers will enjoy an
extended weekend stay on the site due
to family commitments. A new card will be
posted April 5th... have a great Opening
Day Weekend! !
