Bill Faul--1966
The trees are turning color in the North
as Fall is upon us. So let's take a look at
Bill Faul.

A journeyman hurler who pitched over
parts of six big league seasons for the
Tigers, Cubs and Giants; his best
season came in 1965, Faul's first year
with the Cubs.

Faul would win six games, three of them
coming as shutouts. He would also be on
the mound for each of Chicago's three
triple plays during '66 as the club tied a
major league record at the time.

One interesting cartoon note from the
back of his card is that:
"Bill practices
self-hypnotism before pitching
assignments."

In doing some research on
BaseballLibrary.com , one source said
that Faul "goes into a trance to make his
pitches invisible to the hitters."

Meanwhile, history notes that Faul, "once
ate a live toad" in order to get more hop
on his fastball.

Oh boy.....

But that's not all, as one can read in a
story upon Faul's death:
