NAME--YEAR
As one can tell from his card, Alex
Karras was far too good looking to be
just a football player; thus it comes
as no surprise that Hollywood called
his name after he sacked his last
quarterback.
The four-time Pro Bowl defensive
lineman enjoyed a 12-year career
(minus one season due to a
gambling scandal) in the 1960s for a
Detroit Lions club that specialized in
.500 football and making our
Thanksgiving Day a Thursday of
feasting and football.
Remembered for his horse-punching
role as Mongo in the movie Blazing
Saddles and starring alongside
Emmanuel Lewis and wife #2 Susan
Clark in the the 1980s show Webster
as George Papadapolis, Karras also
owns an extensive acting resume.
And it is a pretty impressive stuff for
a pretty boy of a defensive tackle.
